Laughing (Michael Tse) is formally a police undercover. However due to a drug trafficking case, Inspector Pan (Felix Wong) is hot on his trails.
Before Laughing becomes a police undercover, he works under triad leader Yat Gor (Anthony Wong). Yat Gor treats Laughing as his own brother, however to protect his territory and illegal businesses, Yat Gor instructed Laughing to join the police force and act as his undercover.
Laughing is a high-flyer in the police academy. However he never got a chance to join the force because he is specially picked by Inspector Xian (Yuen Biao) to be an undercover in the underworld syndicate. Hence Laughing becomes a double-undercover.
Yat Gor is happy that Laughing is allocated to the triad of his rival (Francis Ng). To make his situation worse, Laughing falls in love with the triad leaders sister, Karen (Fala Chen).
Justice, brotherhood and love, what will Laughing decide on? His decision will be a turning point in his life.
It's the spin-off to the 2009 TVB drama series E.U. (學警狙擊).
Initially I didn't know I was going to watch the Laughing Gor movie. And I didn't even know the movie was out. That's kinda fast. I thought the film will be out next year or so.
The Mystery of Laughing Solved.
Laughing's Name:
Laughing's Chinese name is Leung Siu Tong (梁笑棠). The movie starts off with Laughing as a convenience store worker, and he is robbed by a couple of triad boys. Laughing is saved by Yat Gor (Anthony Wong). Laughing decides to follow Yat Gor because of that incident. Yat Gor starts to call him "Laughing" because his Chinese name has the character "笑".
Five Dollar Coin:
Whenever Laughing needs to make a decision, he will decide by flipping a five dollar coin in the air. The five dollar coin was actually a gift from Yat Gor in their first encounter.
Undercover:
Laughing was originally sent by Yat Gor to be an undercover to keep an eye on the police, but the police then sent Laughing to be an undercover cop to investigate Yat Gor. Laughing has an identity of a "Double Undercover".
Overall, I find the movie so-so only. But I still wanna watch it again in cantonese version. Ron Ng and Sammul Chan made cameo appearances.
I've missed Overheard 《竊聽風雲》 on screen.
